The Buccicatino farm has a recent history, being started in 1993, thanks to Umberto who followed his father Giovanni's example and with brave choices dictated by a determined spirit of hope, created a small but dynamic enterprise devoted to reach an single goal: to obtain finished products with high quality standards. Despite the initial skepticism, Umberto, convinced of his talent and thanks to his stubbornness and family support, was able to introduce his wines to the market obtaining a wide acceptance from his customers. The achievement of the first successes has further motivated him to achieve a more minute care for the vineyards and a total renewal of the cellar with modern facilities for wine making and with the preparation of a beautiful "hall of barrels" in the basement of the managerial house, without neglecting its upper floors, which have been redesigned for the tasting of wines and the reception of guests.
The vineyards, all family-owned, are located in a hilly zone with excellent exposure and pebbled grounds which exalt the organoleptic characteristics of the wines produced, thanks to low yields. The grapes are treated following the old traditions: the vintage is made by hand and with maximum care to avoid quality alterations of the product. The modern technology is used in a way so as to highlight those typical and noble characteristics of the wines from Abruzzo, which were once neglected for a long time and are now more and more esteemed by the experts and by the tastes of the consumers.
At present, our business policy is more and more oriented toward the quality improvement through a progressive renewal and the implantation of vineyards with a high density of plants per hectare. The firm has an agronomist as a consultant and the winemaker is Romeo Taraborrelli, one of the most famous in Italy . The annual production is about 10,000 cases.
