Stellekaya is a privately owned boutique wine producer situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Our cellar is located in the famous town of Stellenbosch and we source all of our grapes from producers in this appellation. From the outset we have focused on producing wines from noble red varietals. Today we are proud to produce a collection of red wines that typify the Stellenbosch terroir and also meet international super-premium quality standards.

Owner Dave Lello has a passion for red wines, especially classic red blends. Dave is a a graduate of the Cape Wine Academy and enjoys being intimately involved in the winemaking process at Stellekaya. He is also a keen follower of the stars and an amateur astronomer, hence the “stars theme” at the winery.

Dave first came to Stellenbosch in 1978 after school to study at Stellenbosch University. Here he discovered wine and soon had dream of being involved in winemaking himself. The dream became a reality when he purchased a property in the Blaauwklip Valley in 1998, twenty years after first arriving in Stellenbosch. The first wine, a Merlot, was released in 2001.
